Together with local industry partners, MPA-Canada works to support initiatives that educate, empower and inspire the adoption of industry best practices for the film, television & streaming industry in Canada.

All of the MPA Studios individually and voluntarily take on a wide variety of green initiatives throughout the year. See how they’re bringing green-friendly policies to practice while working to accelerate the transformation of the global entertainment business into a more sustainable industry.

 

Sustainable Production and Global Awareness

As members of the Sustainable Production Alliance (est. 2010), the MPA studios are dedicated to accelerating the transformation of the entertainment business into a more sustainable industry. As partners in theGreen Production Guide, they lead by example and work to promote best practices in sustainable film and television production.i  

Many of their productions in Canada have won the Environmental Media Association’s Media Awards, the only program solely devoted to celebrating the entertainment industry’s environmental efforts; and the Environmental Media Association’s Green Seal, which is a recognition program honouring progress in sustainable production.

In addition to their work on the Sustainable Production Alliance, all of the MPA Studios individually and voluntarily take on a wide variety of green initiatives throughout the year. Green Production Highlights Across Canada 

In 2022/23, global studios and streamers brought a record $6.86 billion in production volume to Canada, supporting the employment of over 239,300 Canadian creative workers. Many MPA Studio productions in Canada have won prestigious environmental awards, including the Environmental Media Association’s Media Awards, the only program solely devoted to celebrating the entertainment industry’s environmental efforts; the Environmental Media Association’s Green Seal, which is a recognition program honouring progress in sustainable production.
