Visitors to our website who report possible incidents of motion picture piracy by using our online reporting system or persons who report possible incidents of motion picture piracy by telephone or mail will provide personal information about themselves to us, only if they choose to do so. Should you choose to provide us with personal information about yourself, we may use this information to conduct an investigation into a claim of piracy and, if appropriate, to bring legal and other enforcement action. We may also use this information to contact you, to provide updates to you or to seek additional information from you.
The Motion Picture Association – Canada may also collect browser information when you visit our website. This may include information about your computer hardware and software that is automatically collected by the Motion Picture Association – Canada. This information can include your IP address, your browser type, domain names, access times, sections of the website you have visited, content you have downloaded and referring website addresses. This information is used by the Motion Picture Association – Canada for the operation of its website and to maintain the quality of its website services and to provide general statistical information regarding the use of this website.

We will endeavour to keep your personal information confidential. Personal information about yourself which you may choose to provide to us may be disclosed, only if we deem it necessary, to further our investigation into possible incidents of piracy, if we bring legal or other enforcement action, as permitted or required by law.

Any personal information that you provide to us will be safeguarded on servers that employ administrative, technological and procedural safeguards to protect against inadvertent disclosure. Our servers are located in Canada although we may from time to time share maintenance and other services with the Motion Picture Distributors’ Association of America (MPDAA). We do not disclose personal information except as outlined above unless we are required by law to do so.

Upon written request, subject to certain exceptions, The Motion Picture Association – Canada will inform you of the existence, use, and disclosure of your personal information and will give you access to that information. Access requests should be sent to our Chief Privacy Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org. When requesting access to your personal information, we may request specific information from you to enable us to confirm your identity and right to access, as well as to search for and provide the personal information that we hold about you. We may charge you a fee to access your personal information to cover our costs; however, we will advise you of any fee in advance.
